GENERAL SUMMARY: This part-time position supports the day-to-day operations of CMU’s C3 Apprenticeship Program at Park Hills, focusing on student recruitment, retention, academic advising, community outreach, and collaboration with educational partners. The coordinator works with Apprenticeship Coordinator, faculty, staff, and students to promote programs, provide advising, and support student success, while also engaging with the local community and educational partners to raise the visibility of the university and attract prospective students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruitment and Retention (30%)
- Assist in promoting programs to prospective students through various media, including social media, email, and print materials. Also, represent the university at local community and educational partner events, presentations, fairs, and other outreach programs to engage with community and educational partners and potential students.
- Actively contribute to growing the university’s presence in the local area, fostering community and educational partnerships that enhance recruitment efforts.
- Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts with local communities, regional administrators, university coordinators, regional partners, and appropriate university offices.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, high schools, community colleges, and employers to increase awareness and foster recruitment opportunities.
- Host informational sessions, workshops, and other events aimed at educating the community about educational opportunities at the university.
- Respond to student inquiries and question, and also track enrollment trends and student success to adjust strategies.
- Collaborate with student services personnel or offices to ensure students have access to necessary academic resources.
- Academic Advising & Services (50%)
- Provide academic advising to apprenticeship students and ensure they are on track with graduation requirements and assisting students in preparing for graduation.
- Assist students with enrollment, financial assistance services, business office services, and bookstore services.
- Maintain communication with relevant academic offices to support students' academic progress.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of university programs and be ready to provide accurate and timely information to both prospective and current students regarding their degree plans ensuring that degree plans and equivalencies are accurate and timely.
- Meets with C3 apprenticeship students including potential, incoming, and current CMU students to discuss degree plan requirements, program requirements, student teaching requirements, and DESE/school district requirements related to both degree requirements and teaching certification.
III. Collegial Leadership (20%)
- Collaborate with Apprenticeship Coordinator, Regional Dean, Education Coordinator, faculty and staff to ensure a customer service-oriented, high-quality learning environment.
- Support regional campus goals and contribute to the overall success of academic programs.
- Work with the Apprenticeship Coordinator to assist in all areas of the program, including necessary record keeping, experiential course development and evaluation of student artifacts, communication with Registrar regarding the awarding of experiential credit and serving as a part of the program advisory group.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline; and five years of progressively responsible experience in an area related to the responsibilities of the position. Experience working with Microsoft Office products and enrollment management products.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to sit for long periods of time. Travel between regional locations, regional communities, and CMU campuses. Must lift, carry, and move a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have strong advising experience. Must be committed to student success, quality programs, and degree attainment. Must show a demonstrated commitment to professional excellence and integrity and to the values, vision, and goals of Central Methodist University. Must be able to communicate articulately and compellingly in writing and in speech. Ability to set and meet timelines and prioritize own work and that of staff. Must maintain accurate and confidential records of student academic and college-related information.
